None of the wounds are considered life-threatening, accoridng to police.
Following the shooting, Carver High School was put into a lockdown as police investigated in the area. The acting deputy chief added that the families of the students who were injured have already been notified, and all other students are safe.
Students were scheduled to be dismissed from the school at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, the district posted on X.
Some elected officials in the city also took to social media following the shooting.
"No resident in any corner of our city should feel unsafe going to school in the morning," Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby said in a statement.
The shooting suspect was described by Jones only as a Black man who fled eastbound on Presstman Street. No additional information was provided.
